　今月でヘルパーさんが辞める事になった。

長い間お世話になりました、ありがとうございます。

新しい良い仕事に巡り合えますように祈っています。

　４月から自分で運動を兼ねて室内の清掃をします。

練習で床に掃除機をかけましたが音がおかしくゴミを吸い込みません。

吸塵袋のなかに詰まったゴミを捨てて袋を洗ってフィルターの厚い埃の層を洗い流しました。

モーター音が変わりゴミを良く吸い込むようになりました。

Starting in April, I'll be cleaning the rooms myself as a form of exercise.

I practiced vacuuming the floor but noticed a strange sound, and it wasn't picking up dust effectively.

After checking, I discarded the dust from the bag and washed it out along with the thick layer of dust on the filter.

Now the motor sounds better, and it pulls in dust much more efficiently.

　今迄使っていた赤い掃除機を予備に回して新しい掃除機を買った。

バッテリー式を勧められたがコード式の取り回しの軽いものにした。

フィルターと吸塵袋を別途に注文した。

　曜日ごとに掃除する場所を振り分ければ掃除の作業量はそう多くない。

まずは床の四隅の目につく汚れ・シミの除去から始めます。

 I bought a new vacuum cleaner, turning my old red one into a spare.

The clerk recommended a battery-powered vacuum cleaner, but I opted for a corded, easy-to-use, lightweight one.

I ordered a filter and dust bag separately.

By dividing the work to be done each day of the week, the amount of work to be done was not so much.

We start by removing visible dirt and stains from the four corners of the floor.

澄んだ海で鰯が群れている夢を見た。I dreamed of many sardines swarming in the clear sea.

　海の水は澄んでいて波の影が砂地にうつり海面はキラキラ輝いています。

上げ潮になるとイワシの群れが寄って来て撒き餌をしないサビキ釣りの針に何匹もかかります。

私は腰まで海につかってセールのロープを持ち練習用の小さなディンギーを押さえています。

ラッシュガードを着ていても肩は陽でヒリヒリして二の腕は陽に焼けチリチリしています。

サングラスをしていても隙間から強い陽の光が差し込み目を細めなければ眩しくて仕方がありません。

　ディンギーで少し沖に出ると高速船のコースのそばでエイが空中にジャンプしました。

少し岸寄りにコースをかえてパングラオ島の大きな白い十字架まで行きました。

方向をかえてダイブショップに向かうと風は追い風です。

速度が増したのでディンギーのセンターボードが音をたてています。

海面に風が皺を作って風向きを教えてくれます。

太陽はだいぶセブ島寄りに移動しました。

いい風が吹いています。

このまままっすぐ帰るのは勿体ないので風上に向かって進路をかえました。

　１５年くらい前までは高速船で港に着くと子供たちが乗った小舟が寄ってきました。

港の水は澄んでいるので観光客がコインを投げると子供たちは潜って小遣い稼ぎをしていました。

　１５年位前までダイブショップの海水はハグダンのように澄んでいました。

もうあの日の海は戻ってきません。

 

The sea water is clear, and the shadows of the waves are cast on the sand, making the surface sparkle.

When the tide comes in, schools of sardines swim in, and many end up caught on the hooks of artificial bait fishing that doesn’t actually use bait. I'm standing waist-deep in the sea, gripping the sail rope while steadying the small practice dinghy.

Despite wearing a rash guard, my shoulders sting from the sun, and my upper arms feel sunburned and tingly.

Even with my sunglasses on, the strong sunlight manages to shine through the gaps, making me squint against the brightness. As I venture a bit further out in the dinghy, a stingray suddenly leaps out of the water near the path of a speedboat.

I shift my course, steering closer to the shore, aiming for the big white cross on Panglao Island.

With the wind at my back, I alter my direction towards the dive shop, hearing the centerboard of the dinghy making noise as it gains speed.

The wind creates wrinkles on the water’s surface, indicating its direction, while the sun inches closer to Cebu Island. A refreshing breeze fills the air, making it seem like a missed opportunity to just head straight home, so I veer upwind.

Up until about 15 years ago, when you arrived at the port on a speedboat, a small boat filled with children used to come out to greet you.

The harbor water was so crystal clear that tourists would toss coins in, and the kids would dive in to collect them for some pocket money. Back then, the seawater at the dive shop was as clear as hagdan.

Sadly, that sea from those days will never return.

昨夜は７時に寝て今朝は５時に目が覚めました。

朝一番に熟れたアボカドにカラマンシーを絞りかけてスプーンですくって食べました。

一番簡単で一番おいしい食べ方です。

I went to bed at 7:00 last night and woke up at 5:00 this morning.

First thing in the morning I squeezed some calamansi over a ripe avocado and ate it with a spoon.

It is the easiest and most taste-good way to eat.

　ホームベーカリーのタイマーをセットして初めて使って食パンを焼きました。

パン生地を捏ねる音が気になり５時前に目が覚めました。

その音は静かだったので寝なおしをしました。

食パンの山が膨らみすぎです。

  I used the timer setting on my bread maker for the first time to bake white bread.

The sound of kneading the dough bothered me so much that I woke up before 5am.

The sound was quiet so I went back to sleep.

The round top of the bread has risen too much.

　シーツや枕カバーを外してベッドを乾かしています。

 I've removed the sheets and pillowcases and I am letting the bed dry.

日本国。Japan.

　机に座って庭を見ていると日に何度か金網の向こう側から　Ｊａｐａｎ　という言葉が聞こえてきます。

年寄りはスペイン統治の影響で　Ｊａｐｏｎ　といいます。

　地元民の誰かが誰かに　あそこに誰が住んでいるんだ　と質問した答えが　ＪａｐａｎでありＪａｐｏｎ　のようです。

私は人ではなく　日本国　になってしまいました。

 As I sit at my desk looking out at the garden, I hear the word Japan from the other side of the wire fence several times a day.

The elderly people say Japon because of the influence of Spanish rule.

 It seems that when someone asks someone else who lives there, the answer is Japan or Japón.

I have become no longer a person, but the country of Japan.

コーヒー豆。 The Coffee beans.

　酸味があるようーに書かれているコーヒー豆　MT.APO  を買った。

フィリピンのアポ山は３０００m弱の標高がある。

コーヒーは１２００ｍから１７００ｍ位の高さで栽培されているようだ。

コーヒーを淹れて飲んだが酸味はそんなにない、よく探ると少しある。

フィリピンのコーヒー豆の苦いものを除けば４種類を代わる代わる楽しむことが出来る。

楽しみがまた一つ増えた。

　ケニアとの国境のタンザニアのキリマンジャロ山５９００m弱では１５００ｍから２５００mくらいでコーヒーが栽培されているようだ。

此処のコーヒー豆は苦みが少なく酸味があるので大好きだ。

　ビールは苦みの少ないカールスバーグが大好きだ。

この地でそれは一度だけ陳列棚に並んだ。

買った分はその日のうちに全部飲んでしまった。

次の日に行ったらもうなかった。

まとめ買いしなかった自分の甘さを責めた。

　日本から品物をフィリピンに航空便で朝送るとその日の夕方か翌日の朝にはマニラに着く。

どうしてそんなに時間がかかるのか理解できないがタグビラランの郵便局に着くのは２,３週間後だ。

荷物の追跡でタグビラランの郵便局に着いたので行ってみると無いと言われる。

５年位前からは姓名・荷物の番号・を書いて渡して探してもらっている。

それでも　無い　と言われた時はタブレットＰＣを開いて見せる。

すると　あった　と言う、この辺は誠にフィリピンだ。

１０年位前は一時税務職員が来て課税額を決めていた。

その後は便局員が課税額を決めるように変わりスムースになった。

フィリピンに送る品物の価格は安く書いて申告している。

そのままの値段を書いたら高い金額を払わなければいけない。

ディンギーのセイルをメーカーから直接送ってもらった時は郵便局で受け取るときに高い々お金を払った。

 I bought MT.APO coffee beans are described as having a sour taste.

Mt. Apo has an altitude of just under 3000m.

Coffee is grown at altitudes of 1200m to 1700m.

I brewed the coffee and drank it, but it wasn't sour, although a little was found upon closer inspection.

Excluding the bitter Philippine coffee beans, I could enjoy four different types in turn.

I've added another thing to enjoy.

 On Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, just under 5900m on the border with Kenya, coffee seems to be grown at around 1500m to 2500m.

I love the coffee beans here because they have little bitterness and a sour taste.

 As for beer, I love Carlsberg, which has little bitterness.

It was on the shelves only once here.

I drank all of the ones I bought that day.

When I went back the next day, it was gone.

I blamed myself for not buying in bulk.

 If you send an item from Japan to the Philippines by airmail in the morning, it will arrive in Manila that evening or the next morning.

I don't understand why it takes so long, but it takes 2 or 3 weeks for it to arrive at the Tagbilaran post office.

I tracked the package and it showed up at the Tagbilaran post office, but when I went there they said it wasn't there.

About five years ago, I started writing down my name and package number and handing it over to them to have them look for it.

When they still said it wasn't there, I opened my tablet PC and showed them.

And they said it was there, this is truly Philippine.

About 10 years ago, tax officials used to come and determine the amount of tax.

After that, they changed it so that post office employees decide the amount of tax, and it's become much smoother.

I declare the price of the items I send to the Philippines as low as possible.

If I write the actual price down I have to pay a higher amount.

When I had a dinghy sail sent directly from the manufacturer, I paid a high fee to pick it up at the post office.
