　豚の肩肉の塊（15ｃｍ立方）を二晩ブライン液に漬けました。

圧力鍋で１０分蒸しました。

肉は柔らかくホロホロです。

　スープをラーメンに使おうと思いました。

韓国の食品に押されてモールに日本の麺は見当たりません。

　円が対ドル１１０円位の時にはモールに日本人が歩いていました。

対ドル１６０円弱のいま韓国の観光客が多いですね。

　2025年12月で韓国の賃金水準は日本に比べ20％前後高くなっています。

製造業は日本より27．8％高賃金構造です。

　ボホール空港に韓国から直行便があることも要因かもしれません。

 I marinated a 15cm cube of pork shoulder in brine for two nights.
I steamed it in a pressure cooker for 10 minutes.

あさは暗いうちに目が覚めます。 I wake up before dawn.

　外が少し明るくなるまでベッドの上でストレッチをして時間をつぶします。

 I do stretches on the bed until it gets a little light outside.

　１２日間連続で晴れています。

鉢植えに水をあげて洗濯物を干します。

 It's been sunny for 12 days straight.
I water the potted plants and hang out the laundry.

　朝起きて晴れているとそれだけで嬉しくなります。

 I feel happy just to wake up in the morning, and it's sunny.

ブレーン フォグ。 Brain fog.

 

　頭がぼーっとしている状態やはっきりとしない状態をブレーンフォグというそうです。

　先日、突然視界が明るくなったというか頭がはっきりとしました。

頭にかかっていた薄い膜が無くなったような感じです。

　長期飲酒者の私は自分では気が付かないうちにアルコールが脳と親しみ炎症を起こしていたようです。

それが常態化していたので自分自身で頭に靄がかかっている感覚はありませんでした。

禁酒後８ヶ月くらいで脳の皮質の厚みが戻る場合があるそうです。

いま禁酒６ヶ月なので８か月には２ヶ月足りません。

脳が戻ってこないアルコールを諦めたのかもしれません。

自分に都合よく脳の修復が始まったと思う事にしました。

　２ヶ月くらい前から鼻がよく通りにおいがわかるようになりました。

今迄と違い朝起きてすぐバスルームに行きたくなりました。

行くとお腹がスッキリとします。

そのままシャワーを浴びてグルーミングします。

いろいろな事がおこるもんだなあと自分をつきはなしてみています。

　ドライシーズンに入りました。

晴れた気持ちの良い日が続いています。

気温も上がっています。

飲酒欲求が時々起きます。

冷えたビール、ウイスキーソーダ、ジントニックが飲みたくなります。

危ない々・・・

 The feeling of having a foggy or unclear head is apparently called brain fog.

 The other day, my vision suddenly brightened, or rather, my head became clear.
It felt like the thin film that had been covering my head had disappeared.

 As a long-term drinker, it seems that alcohol had become accustomed to my brain and was causing inflammation without me realizing it.
Because this had become the norm, I didn't feel like my head was misty.
Apparently, the thickness of the cerebral cortex can return to normal after about eight months of abstinence.
I've been sober for six months now, so I'm two months short of eight.
Perhaps my brain has given up on the alcohol that wasn't coming back.
I've decided to think that my brain's repair process has conveniently begun.

 Four months after abstaining from alcohol, my sense of smell has improved.
Unlike before, I now want to go to the bathroom as soon as I wake up in the morning.
When I go, my stomach feels refreshed.
I then take a shower and groom myself.
I'm observing myself from a third-person perspective, realizing that so many things are happening.

 The dry season has begun.
We've been having lovely, sunny days.
The temperature is rising.
I occasionally get the urge to drink.
I crave a cold beer, whiskey soda, or gin and tonic.
This is dangerous...

余裕のある朝は素晴らしい。 A leisurely morning is wonderful.

 

　あさ目を覚ますと薄暗い中で白いカーテンが薄青く見えます。

シャワーを浴びて身体を洗い歯を磨き髭を剃ります。

薄青かったカーテンが自然な白い色に戻っています。

ドアを開けてカーテンを開いて部屋の空気を入れ替えます。

早朝の風は帆を張った漁船が沖に出やすいように陸から海に向かって吹きます。

洗濯機をまわします。

果物とヨーグルトを食べます。

コーヒー豆を挽いてコーヒーを淹れて机に座ります。

庭の木々の緑はしっとりと露にぬれています。

背の高い椰子の葉は風にそよいで揺れています。

コーヒーを飲みながらゆったりと背中を椅子の背もたれに預けます。

働いていた時には出来なかったことです。

酒を飲んでいた時には出来なかったことです。

コーヒーカップを洗いながら朝食のメニューを考えます。

 When I wake up in the dim light, the white curtains appear faintly blue.

I take a shower, wash myself, brush my teeth, and shave.

The faintly blue curtains have returned to their natural white color.

I open the door and unroll the curtains to let in fresh air.

The early morning breeze blows from land towards the sea, making it easier for fishing boats with their sails out to sea.

I do the laundry.

I eat fruit and yogurt.

I grind the coffee beans, brew coffee, and sit at my desk.

The green of the trees in the garden is glistening with dew.

The tall palm leaves sway in the wind.

I sip my coffee and lean back comfortably in the chair.

This is something I couldn't do when I was working.

This is something I couldn't do when I was drinking.

I wash the coffee cup while thinking about what to have for breakfast.

丈夫な山刀を買いました。 I bought a sturdy machete.

 

　こちらは一年中気温が高いです。　

（最低気温２４℃、最高気温３１℃）

魚やイカを捌いた後早く処理しないと腐敗臭が出ます。

　ゴミ収集は週２回です。

時々週１回になります。

生ごみをもっていかない時もあります。

今迄は処理業者にチップを渡していましたが改善しないので今はごみは燃やしています。

　生ごみで果物・野菜の皮やコーヒーの出し殻が燃え残り困っていました。

生ごみに薪をのせて燃やしました。

薪が太いのでうまく着火できませんでした。

丈夫な山刀を買いました。

これで薪を細く割れば焚火の火勢を強くできます。

生ごみの燃え残りも無くなります。

 The temperature here is high year-round.

If I don't process fish and squid quickly after cleaning them, they will start to rot and develop an odor.

 Garbage collection is twice a week.
Sometimes it's only once a week.
Sometimes they don't even take the food waste.
Until now, I've been tipping the waste disposal person, but it hasn't improved, so I'm now burning the garbage.

  I was having trouble with non-burnable fruit and vegetable peels and coffee grounds from the food waste.
I tried putting firewood on top of the food waste to burn it.
The firewood was too thick, so it didn't light properly.
I bought a sturdy machete.
With this, I can split the firewood into thinner pieces and make the fire burn more strongly.
It also eliminates the leftover food waste.

　フィリピンの4月は、キリスト教の最大行事である「ホーリーウィーク（聖週間）」があり、数日間連休となります（2026年は4月2日〜5日）。

この期間は多くの店が閉まり、物流も止まるため旅行の際は注意が必要です。

また、４月９日は「勇者の日で祝日」となります。

　寝ているあいだ布団を身体にかけていないことに気が付きました。

今は掛け布団のかわりに掛布団のカバーを使っています。

　暑くなってきたので布団カバーを薄い涼しい柄に変えました。

窓から熱い外気が部屋に入ってくるようになりました。

粉末の化学調味料は便利で台所に欠かすことが出来ません。 Powdered chemical seasonings are convenient and indispensable in my kitchen.

　フィリピンで味の素の小袋はこんなパッケージデザインです。

　今ここで使っている天然の調味料は鰹節・鰹節の粉・煮干しの粉・昆布・干しシイタケです。

これらは出汁をとるのに手間がかかります。

気力がみなぎった時でないと作る気になりません。

　化学調味料は振り入れるだけなので手間がかかりません。

中華味・鶏スープも簡単に作れます。

粉末の化学調味料は便利で台所に欠かすことが出来ません。

 In the Philippines, Ajinomoto packets have this kind of packaging design.
 The natural seasonings I'm currently using are bonito flakes, bonito flake powder, dried sardine powder, kelp, and dried shiitake mushrooms.
Making broth from these takes time and effort.
I make broth in batches when I feel like it.
 Chemical seasonings are easy to use; I sprinkle them in.
You can easily make Chinese-style flavors and chicken soup with them.
Powdered chemical seasonings are convenient and indispensable in my kitchen.

今後は喉の異常、咳、発熱時は風邪薬を飲んですぐ医者に行きます。

　今迄は熱と発汗は身体の毒だしくらいに考えていました。

汗を出すと風邪は治りました。

今回の肺炎の入院で今迄の経験則は役に立たないことが解りました。

生物のたどる道は理解しているつもりでしたが当事者になると加齢は残酷です。

 Thank you for the cold medicine.
From now on, if I have a sore throat, cough, or fever, I will take cold medicine and go to the doctor immediately.
Until now, I thought that fever and sweating were just the body's way of expelling toxins.
Sweating always cured my colds.
This hospitalization for pneumonia has shown me that my previous experience is no longer useful.
I thought I understood the path that living things follow, but when I  experience it myself, aging is cruel.

　モールで電動式の怪獣を子供たちに貸し出しています。

これが大人気です。

１階のイベントフロアでは子供をのせた数台の電動式の怪獣が走り回っています。

子供の嬉しそうな顔を見ていると明るい気持ちになります。

 The mall rents out electric monsters to children.

This is very popular with children.
Several electric monsters carrying children are zipping around the event floor on the first floor.
Seeing the children's happy faces brightens my mood.

日本茶の効能。 The Medicinal Effects of Japanese Green Tea.

 

　入院してからずっと吸入薬を使っているので喉がかれてしわがれ声になりました。

日本茶でケーキを食べた後喉が楽になりました

驚きました

　朝茶はその日の難逃れ　という諺があります。

空港工事でこちらに見えた方のお兄さんはお医者さんです。

診察した患者からの空気感染を避けるために日本茶を飲んで喉からの感染を防いでいるそうです。

　日本茶を２、３日飲み続けると喉の違和感がとれてしわがれ声も治りました。

ハーブティーなんて言っていないで日本茶を飲めばいいのになあ　と思いました。

ハーブティーに恨みはありません、念のために申し添えます。

The eldest brother of someone who came here for airport construction is a doctor.

 After drinking Japanese green tea for two or three days, the discomfort in my throat disappeared, and my hoarse voice was cured.
I thought, "Why not just drink Japanese green tea instead of herbal tea?"
I have no grudge against herbal tea, just to be clear.

最近何かおかしい。 Something's been off lately.

 

 　最近おかしな電話がかかってきます、もちろん出ません。

インターネットが接続しているのに警告が出てサイトが開けません。

悪意を感じて気持ち悪くて仕方がありません。

　Tukoにコーヒーを飲みに行きました。

マネージャーのチェビーさんがいました。

彼女は女の子を産みました

産休が終わったから働いているの　身体の調子はどう　と聞かれたので医者に見せる備忘録を見せました。

肺炎になったの　付き添いはどうしたの　と聞かれたのでダイブショップに頼んだんだ　と答えました。

どうして私に連絡してくれないの　いつでも面倒見るからね　と言われました。

腹の底が熱くなりました。

  I went to Tuko for coffee.

The manager, Chevy, was there.

She had given birth to a baby girl.

She said she was back at work because her maternity leave was over.

She asked me how I was feeling, so I showed her the notes I had prepared for my doctor.

She asked me what I did about having someone stay with me when I was hospitalized with pneumonia.

I replied that I had asked the dive shop to take care of her.

She said, "Why didn't you contact me? I'll always take care of you."

Her words made me so happy that I felt a warmth spreading through my stomach.

いやー、これにしてよかった。 I'm so glad I bought this.

 

　今回アマゾンで買った直径12ｃｍのシャワーヘッドです。

５％の節水型です。

やっとシャワーの水圧の強さと温水器の温度の調整がうまくゆくようになりました。

使うたびに　いやー、これにしてよかった　と独り言を言っています。

 This is the 12cm diameter shower head I bought on Amazon.
It uses 5% less water.
I can finally adjust the water pressure in the shower and the temperature of the water heater properly.
Every time I use it, I talk to myself, "I'm so glad I bought this."

毛ばたき。 The feather duster.

 

　毛ばたきの先端がなくなったものをヘルパーさんが捨てました。

拾って机の上の掃除に使っています。

テーブルクロスの上の埃も小さなゴミもきれいに無くなります。

先日赤いのものが無くならないのでよく見たら布についたトマトソースの染みでした。

苦笑いがこみ上げてきました。

 The cleaning helper threw away a feather duster that had lost its tip.
I picked it up and am using it to clean my desk.
It cleans up dust and a small bit of trash on the tablecloth.
The other day, I noticed some red stuff on it that wouldn't go away, so I took a closer look and saw it was a tomato sauce stain on the cloth.
I couldn't help but have a bitter smile.

　この日は居住証明をとって国際郵便で日本に送る手続きをしました。

午後は病院へ行って新しい診察スケジュールを作ってもらいました。

疲れました。

 It was nice weather all day yesterday.

Work on the roof of the house next door is almost finished.

 On this day, I obtained proof of residency in this country and went through the procedures to send it to Japan via international mail.
