　EMSの国際スピード郵便を使いました。

これで３回目です。

日本から７日間でここの郵便局に着くことが解りました。

　こちらで買えないものが手に入りました。

麦茶は毎日飲むので重要です。

グルーミングの５枚替え刃と歯ブラシは買い足しました。

足の攣りには６８番です。

浅漬けには昆布がいります。

　こちらで歯の治療をしたので食べ物が歯に挟まる事はなくなりました。

歯のクリーニングをしているので口内は問題ありません。

不整脈は治り、血圧は正常です。

ただLDLコレステロールが高いので食餌と薬で下げている最中です。

日本のハシカ怖いですね、脅威の感染率です。

 I used EMS (Express Mail Service) international express mail.
This is my third time using it.
I learned that it takes 7 days for packages to arrive at this post office from Japan.

 I was able to get some things I couldn't buy here.

Barley tea is important because I drink it every day.

I bought an extra five-blade razor blades and a toothbrush.
Number 68 is good for leg cramps.
I need kelp for quick pickles.

 I had dental treatment here, so food no longer gets stuck in my teeth.

My teeth are cleaned regularly, so there are no problems in my mouth.

My arrhythmia has been cured, and my blood pressure is normal.

However, my LDL cholesterol is high, so I'm currently trying to lower it with diet and medication.

Measles in Japan is scary; the infection rate is alarming.

買い物は忍耐と試練。 Shopping is a test of patience.

 

　シーフードのパスタが食べたくてイカとエビを買いにゆきました。

いやー、参りました。

レジがものすごい混雑でした。

この写真を撮った場所に来るまで１５分かかりました。

待ち時間を紛らわすためにスマホでゲームをしている人が多いですね。

私はたったままストレッチをして時間をつぶしました。

 I wanted to eat seafood pasta, so I went to buy squid and shrimp.
Wow, what a mess.
The checkout lines were incredibly crowded.
It took me 15 minutes to get to the spot where I took this photo.
Many people were playing games on their smartphones to pass the time.
I stood in line and stretched to kill time.

荷物の到着が早くなりました。 The delivery time has become much faster.

 

　５/１８に荷物を日本で発送しています。

私の住んでいるタグビララン市の郵便局から荷物到着の連絡は5/24にありました。

７、８年前は日本を出てから荷物が届くまで2～3週間かかっていました。

荷物の到着が早くなりました。

　今回コーヒー豆の焙煎度をミディアムにしました。

前回の焙煎度シナモンと比べて味がどう変わるか楽しみです。

私の淹れているメソッドは浅煎りで湯温９３℃です。

中煎りで湯温８８℃ですから５℃下がります。

楽しみです。

　納豆作りは何十回もトライしましたがうまくゆきませんでした。

納豆菌の種類をかえました。

大豆を買いに行ったら　売り切れよ　と言われました。

前途多難な予感がします。

 The shipping company dispatched the package from Japan on May 18th.
I received notification of the package's arrival from the post office in Tagbilaran, where I live, on May 24th.
Seven or eight years ago, it took two to three weeks for a package to arrive after it left Japan.
The delivery time has become much faster.

 I changed the roast level of my coffee beans to medium this time.
I'm looking forward to seeing how the taste changes compared to the previous cinnamon roast.
My brewing method uses a light roast with a water temperature of 93°C.
For a medium roast, the water temperature is 88°C, so it's 5°C lower.
I'm excited!

 I've tried making natto dozens of times, but it never worked.

I changed the type of natto bacteria I used.

When I went to buy soybeans, the shopkeeper told me they were sold out.

I expect this will be a difficult process.

　買い物に行きました。

相変わらずレジには長い列が出来ています。

”稼働するレジの数をを増やせばいいのになあ”と思いました。

”私の前に入りなさい”と中年の婦人が笑いながら私に声をかけてくれました。

彼女も自分の番が来るのを長い時間列に並んで待っていました。

大変ありがたい事でしたが”ありがとうございます、ここで待ちます”といって頭を下げました。

私は心の中で”ありがとうございます”ともう一度彼女にお礼を言いました。

 I went shopping.
As usual, there was a long line at the checkout.
"They should just increase the number of operating registers," I thought.
"Go ahead and come ahead of me," a middle-aged woman said to me with a smile.
She, too, had been waiting in line for a long time for her turn.
It was very kind of her, but I bowed my head and said, "Thank you, I'll wait here."
I thanked her again in my heart.

こんな事もあるんですね。 I was surprised that something like this could happen.

 

　今日はレジに長い々列が出来ていました

溜息をついて列の最後尾に並びました。

店の人に案内されてまだ開いていないレジに行きました。

レジが開き待たずに支払いが出来ました。

白くなった頭が役に立ちました。

こんな事もあるんですね。

 There was a really long line at the checkout today.
I sighed and joined the end of the line.
A store employee directed me to a checkout that wasn't open yet.
The checkout opened, and I was able to pay without waiting.
My white hair came in handy.
I was surprised that something like this could happen.

あさの散歩。 Morning walk.

 

　あさの散歩の帰り道でトマトとオクラを買いました。

トマトの酸味とセミハードチーズの相性がいいですね。

　オクラはオクラ納豆とぬか漬けにして食べています。

熱いご飯にオクラ納豆あいますよ。

 I bought tomatoes and okra on my way back from my morning walk.
The acidity of the tomatoes goes well with the semi-hard cheese.

 I eat the okra as okra natto and pickled in rice bran.
Okra natto goes well with hot rice.

傾けても噴霧できるスプレー。 A spray bottle that sprays even when tilted.

 

　こちらで買った鉢植えの植木のスプレーが壊れました。

アマゾンでスプレーを買いました。

大正解でした。

水を噴霧した時の水の粒子の細かさが違います。

こちらで買ったスプレーの噴霧の粒子はザラメ大です。

新しいスプレーの噴霧の粒子は小麦粉の粉末のような細かさです。

　植木に葉水をすると霧になった水が葉の上で丸い水滴に変わります。

葉を枝を近くで見るので今まで気が付かなかった　葉の丸まり　害虫　に気が付きます。

葉水をすると植物が生き生きと蘇ります。

傾けても噴霧できるスプレーは園芸初心者の必需品です。

The fineness of the water particles when sprayed differs.

The spray particles from the new spray bottle are as fine as flour powder.

  When I mist my plants, the mist turns into round droplets on the leaves.
Because I can look at the leaves and branches up close, I notice things I hadn't noticed before, such as curled leaves and pests.
Misting the leaves makes the plants come alive again.
A spray bottle that sprays even when tilted is a must-have for gardening beginners.

モールの日本米。 Japanese Rice at the Mall.

 

　BQモールの米売り場で日本米を売っていました。

フィリピン産の日本米です。

　通販サイトで売っている同じものは価格は約倍です。

それを一度通販で買いましたが味が良いわけではなく同じ品物でした。

日本米をあの価格で売っても売れるはずはないと思っています。

こちらで日本米を二期作しているので米がさばききれなくなったのでしょう。

　こちらの通販サイトは価格が高いです。

品揃えが良いわけではありません。

配達に日数がかかります。

アマゾンで買って日本から７、８日で届くようになりました。

こちらの通販をあまり利用するメリットはありません。

たまに利用するだけです。

 They were selling Japanese rice at the rice section of BQ Mall.
It was Japanese rice grown in the Philippines.

 The same rice sold on online shopping sites costs about twice as much.
I bought it online once, but it wasn't any better tasting; it was the same product.
I don't think they could possibly sell Japanese rice at that price.
Since they cultivate Japanese rice twice a year here, the farmers probably can't sell all of their rice.

 This region's online store is expensive.
The selection isn't great.
Delivery takes a long time.

I can now buy from Amazon and get my items delivered from Japan in 7-8 days.
I don't see much benefit to using this online store.
I only use it occasionally.

いやー、これにしてよかった。 I'm so glad I bought this.

 

　今回アマゾンで買った直径12ｃｍのシャワーヘッドです。

５％の節水型です。

やっとシャワーの水圧の強さと温水器の温度の調整がうまくゆくようになりました。

使うたびに　いやー、これにしてよかった　と独り言を言っています。

 This is the 12cm diameter shower head I bought on Amazon.
It uses 5% less water.
I can finally adjust the water pressure in the shower and the temperature of the water heater properly.
Every time I use it, I talk to myself, "I'm so glad I bought this."

　通販で買った日本の品物の梱包と支払いが終わりました。

いつも転送コムさんにお願いしています。

さて荷物は何日で届くでしょうか。

前回年末にかかわらず思いのほか早く着いたので楽しみにしています。

Last time, it arrived much earlier than I expected, even at the end of the year, so I'm looking forward to it.

八百屋さんは家族経営。 The greengrocer is family-run.

　最近見つけた八百屋さんは家族経営です。

皆が交代で店番をしています。

モールに比べて良い品物を扱っています。

買う品物と数を言うと良い品を選んでくれます。

　東洋人の年寄りの客は珍しかったようです。

質問はお決まりの”どこの国の人なの？”から始まりました。

何度も買い物に行くうちに質問はすすみ”嫁はフィリピン人か？”、”職業は？”、”年齢は？”、”どこに住んでいるんだ”等々になりました。

各人がその都度違うことを聞いてくるので同じ質問に何回も答えました。

　歩いて15分くらいの場所にあるので散歩の途中に寄ります。

ある日”住まいはどこにあるんだ？”と聞かれたので　ここから歩いて１５分くらいだ　と答えました。

”どうしてバイクで来ないんだ”と聞かれたので　ガソリンを買うお金がないいんだ　と答えました。

こちらに人は少しの距離でもトライシクルを使います。

バイクに乗らないで歩いて買い物に来る変な日本人と思われているようです。

 The greengrocer I found recently is family-run.

Everyone takes turns working the store.

They carry better quality products than those at the mall.

When I tell them what I want and how many, they help me choose the best items.

 It seemed like elderly Asian customers were rare.

The questions started with the standard, "What nationality are you?"

As I went shopping there many times, the questions progressed to "Is your wife Filipina?", "What do you do for a living?" "How old are you?" "Where do you live?", etc.

Each person asked me something different each time, so I answered the same questions over and over.

 The store is about a 15-minute walk away, so I stop by on my walks.

One day, someone asked me, "Where do you live?" and I replied that it was about a 15-minute walk from there.

When they asked me, "Why don't you come by motorbike?" I replied that I didn't have money for gas.

People here use tricycles even for short distances.

Apparently, people think I'm a strange Japanese person who walks to the shops instead of riding a motorbike.

田舎の商売。Rural business.

　今日はレジの混雑がひどくて３０分くらい並びました。

稼働していないレジが1/3位ありました。

もう少し顧客のことを考えて商売をしないといけません。

セブのモールでレジに並んでいると空いているレジに案内してくれます。

田舎の商業感覚を捨てないと新しく建つシューマートに顧客を奪われますよ。

 The cash registers were really crowded today, and I had to wait in line for about 30 minutes.

About a third of the registers were not in operation.

You need to be more considerate of your customers when doing business.

When I'm waiting in line at a mall in Cebu, they guide me to an empty register.

If you don't shed your rural business mindset, you'll lose your customers to the new Shoe Mart.

カラマリは衣が焦げてガリガリでイカは固くなっていました。

パスタは茹ですぎでトマトソースの代わりにケチャップを使っていました。

作ってもらったものなので全部食べようとしましたがニンニク臭く半分しか食べられませんでした。

店が悪い方へ変わってゆくのは淋しいですね。

 Frankie's is a restaurant with good appetizers and food.
It's a restaurant I'd been planning to come to once I'd recovered and was able to drink alcohol again.
The chef has changed.
The calamari was burnt and crunchy, and the squid was tough.
The pasta was overcooked, and ketchup was used instead of tomato sauce.
I tried to eat it all since it was made for me, but it smelled like garlic, so I could only eat half.
It's sad to see a restaurant go downhill.

開店と同時に店に入ればレジで待たずにすむかもしれません。

これといった予定はありませんがレジに並んで時間を無駄にするのはいやです。

 I baked a fruitcake and relaxed, eating it while sipping green tea.

I thought about how I'd do my morning shopping in the new year.

カスピ海ヨーグルトが５００ml出来上がりました。

　今回はこのヨーグルトの入っている容れ物のことです。

写真の容れ物ともう一つ小型の容れ物をこちらに来てすぐ買いました。

我慢して今まで使ってきましたが２つとも蓋と本体の螺旋のかみ合わせが悪いんです。

蓋が閉まりにくく、開けずらいんです。

ダイソーも出来たことですし新しい容器を買おうと思ってでかけました。

買おうとするたびに"昭和生れのもったいない"が頭をもたげてきます。

”家に２つあるのにもったいない”　”使える容器があるのに買うなんてもったいない”

買いかえが出来ません。

I still haven't been able to buy replacement containers for them.

円の価値と家電の品質。 The value of the yen and the quality of home appliances.

　シャワーの給湯器から水が漏り温度の調整が出来なくなりました。

新しいものと交換しました。

　ハードウエアの店で”シャワーの給湯器が壊れました”どれが一番いいですかと聞きました。

"シャワーを浴びたいので今日買ったものを取り付けてもらえますか"と聞くと"今日の午後私が取り付けます"というありがたいお話でした。

彼に勧められたものを買いました。

彼は熟練した電気技師でした。

　日本製の給湯器は３年で駄目になりました。

冷蔵庫３台のうちの２台は日本製です、冷えがよくありません、異音を出します。

他の１台はよく冷えて静かです。

　こちらの家電売り場から日本製は姿を消しました。

円の価値と家電の品質は連動しているようです。

 Water leaked from my shower water heater, and I could no longer adjust the temperature.
I replaced it with a new one.

At a hardware store, I said, "My shower water heater is broken," and asked the clerk which one would be best.

"I want to be able to take showers, so could you install the one I bought today?" I replied, and he said, "I'll install it this afternoon."
I bought the one he recommended.
He is a skilled electrician.

 My Japanese-made water heater broke after three years.
Two of our three refrigerators are Japanese-made, and they don't cool well and make strange noises.
The other one cools well and is quiet.
 Japanese-made products have disappeared from the home appliance section here.
