　小雨が降っています。

弱い風が吹いています。

肌寒いので寒暖計を見ると外気温は２６℃でした。

 It's light rain.
There's a weak wind blowing.
It's chilly, so I'm wearing a vest.
I looked at the thermometer; the outside temperature at 10 am was 26°C.

１１時を過ぎて雨が本降りになりました。

コーラが好きな私ですが飲む気になりません。

コーヒーは３杯のみました。

It started raining heavily after 11 o'clock.
I like Coke, but I don't like drinking now.
I've already had three cups of coffee.

それを乾かすのは大変です。 It's hard to dry it.

　生シラスを塩ゆでしてシラスを作りました。

茹でたシラスを乾燥させるのは大変です。

一晩冷蔵庫に入れましたが全然乾きません。

シラスの半分はパスタにのせました。

残りの半分は明日シラス丼にします。

 I made shirasu by boiling raw whitebait in salt water.
It's a hassle to dry the boiled whitebait.

I put it in the fridge overnight and it never dried out.
I put half of the whitebait on pasta.
I'll make a shirasu rice bowl with the other half tomorrow.

麺の味がいい。 The pasta has a great taste.

　パスタを何種類か食べ比べました。

バリラのパスタの味が一番いいですね。

それでペペロンチーノを作ってもそれにトマトソースをからめてもパスタが美味しいんです。

　驚いたのはパスタの種類の多い事です。

店には２０種類くらい並んでいました。

　食べ比べた中には変に粘っこいパスタもありました。

捨てるのはもったいないので我慢して食べました。

たけどもうそのメーカーのパスタは買いません。

 I tried several different pasta tastes.
Barilla pasta tastes the best.
Whether I make it pepperoncino or coat it in tomato sauce, the pasta is good.

 What surprised me was the wide variety of pasta available.
There were about 20 different types on display in the store.

 Some of the pasta I tried was strangely sticky.
I didn't want to throw it away, so I endured and ate it.
But I won't be buying pasta from that brand again.

爆竹はうるさい。 Firecrackers are noisy.

 　おはようございます。

今朝は７時半に目が覚めました。

昨夜は穏やかに８時に眠りにつきました。

夜中の１２時前から爆竹と花火のうるさい音に酔っぱらいの声が混じり３時ごろまで眠れませんでした。

彼等の新年のお祭りに付き合わされました。

彼らにとって新年は華僑の影響もあってお祭りなんですね。

　クリスマスは彼らにとってキリスト教の大切な儀式ですから騒ぐことはありません。

教会に行き家族と家で食事をしてゆったりと寛ぎます。

　日本のクリスマスイブもお祭りでに教会に行かずケーキを食べて酒を飲みます。

新年は昨年の穢れを清め一年の平穏を祈願します。

日本は仏教と神道と農業の行事が混然と一体になっています。

彼岸の墓参りはそのいい例ですね。

 Good morning.
I woke up at 7:30 this morning.
I fell asleep peacefully at eight last night.
The loud noise of firecrackers and fireworks, mixed with the voices of drunk people, started before midnight and kept me up until around 3 am.
I was forced to join in their New Year's festival.
For them, the New Year is a festival, partly due to the influence of overseas Chinese.

Christmas is an essential Christian ritual for them, so there is no fuss.
They go to church, have a home meal with their family, and relax.

Christmas Eve in Japan is also a festival, so people don't go to church, but instead eat cake and drink alcohol.
The New Year is a time to cleanse oneself of the impurities of the past year and pray for peace in the coming year.
In Japan, Buddhism, Shinto, and agricultural rituals are intertwined.
Visiting graves during the equinoxes is a good example of this.

種のプチプチの食感は面白いですね。The seeds' bumpy texture was intriguing.

　果肉の白いドラゴンフルーツを初めて食べました。

それを食べたのはここに来てから初めてです。

赤い果肉のドラゴンフルーツと比べるとさっぱりした味でした。

スプーンで丸く削ってヨーグルトにいれました。

種のプチプチの食感は面白いですね。

 I tried white-fleshed dragon fruit for the first time.
It was the first time I'd eaten it since coming here.
Compared to red-fleshed dragon fruit, it had a lighter taste.
I scraped it into round pieces with a spoon and put it in yogurt.
The seeds' bumpy texture was intriguing.

朝買い物にゆきました。 I went shopping in the morning.

それでもレジに長い時間並びました。

開店と同時に店に入ればレジで待たずにすむかもしれません。

これといった予定はありませんがレジに並んで時間を無駄にするのはいやです。

 I went shopping in the morning.
Even so, I still had to wait in line at the cash register for a long time.
I could have avoided waiting in line at the register if I had gone to the store as soon as it opened.
I don't have any particular plans, but I don't want to waste time waiting in line at the cash register.

　モールでレジに並んで疲れました。

腹が減りました。

スパニッシュオムレツと小イカのパスタで早い昼食をとりました。

 I'm tired of waiting in line at the mall's cash register.

I'm hungry.

I had an early lunch of a Spanish omelet and squid pasta.

　モールの帰りにいつもの八百屋によりました。

これでもう何も買うものはありません。

　フルーツケーキを焼いて緑茶を飲みながらケーキを食べてのんびりしました。

新しい年の朝の買い物の仕方を考えました。

朝の洗濯の時間をずらすのは嫌だし・・・

ルーチーンを変えるのは大変です。

 On my way back from the mall, I stopped by my usual greengrocer.

And that was all my shopping.

 I baked a fruitcake and relaxed, eating it while sipping green tea.

I thought about how I'd do my morning shopping in the new year.

I don't want to have to change the time I do my morning laundry...

Changing my routine is hard.
